Sierra Art Trails starts Oct. 2,

Usually I am very organized and everything for Trails is in order by this date.

But with Ralph's Shoulder surgery this last Fri.. Everything has turned into a scramble.
PT for his arm, Dr. appoint., meals etc... that I could just pass off before and leave for him to handle, and somethings I still want to make special for Trails are still on my to do list. But there will be lots to see. Judy has some marvelous Pastels she is excited to show, and I have several new pieces to share with you also.

Be sure to come by, we are easy to find, just below the Casino on Hwy 41. Watch for our signs.  I will be having a sale of some items also.. Special for the Christmas Holidays..
At this time of the year we have a chance to see friends that have been elusive during the year, and we love the surprise visits..

Judy and I are trying to think of projects we can be working on at the time of your visit. Lots to get ready.
Docents will be available to show you the Historic Adobe that has been refurbished and answer any questions.

Bring your lunch and enjoy a break sitting at the picnic tables under the oaks..
We look forward to seeing you and meeting new friends.

Banana Split Party

Our Neighbor Al making a special treat for me. This all started with my husband, Ralph. He is addicted to Banana Splits.
Al used to work at the local Indian Casino, and he would make the Banana Split for him.  Did not matter if it was breakfast, lunch or dinner.
The Casino has been closed for some time, and will open soon. But since Ralph is having some surgery on his right arm, he wanted to have a party with lots of ice cream at our house.
We had all the necessary ingredients. Al was a wonderful sport and he was the surprise of the evening, even answered the door for our guests.  We had a table full of guests and loads of Ice Cream and all the goodies that go with them.. We made a list of all the ingredients that our friends wanted, even to the Marshmallow Fluff.  I won't bore you with all the photos.

Hats off to a very fun evening. Thank you to all our friends for a fun, silly evening.
Ralph is doing well after shoulder Surgery, but I am tired!

If you are looking for great shaped bowls for Banana Splits, we bought ours at the Dollar Store in Oakhurst.

Rough Fire / Rain

I had to share this fantastic photo of the Rough Fire and our amazing Firemen.   As I type this there is a patter on our roof.  It is rain! We really need the rain, all the rain that is falling.

But wouldn't you know it,  I washed rugs and hung them outside, that it would be rain!
Maybe I should put the rugs in the washer more often!
Smells so good out side. I need to put the car out there also..
Hope you have a rainy day where you are  in Calif.
Blessing to those who have lost so very much with the fires.

Madera Ag Art Show, at Madera Circle Gallery.

Lately seems like I am posting many posters, lots going on at this time of year.  Even the heat is going up again. So come to cool places. This year I have 2 pieces in the Ag Show. That is exciting and I am so honored!
Soon I will be posting the poster and telling about Sierra Art Trails, so stick with me, this is a crazy time of the month. Busy on all fronts, and great fun.
Ok, the house and the yard have to wait, just as well, the fires in the mountains are still sending lots of smoke our way, so very hazy still.   Hope it is clear where you are.

If you are in our area, we are safe and busy.. Be sure to stop in at these wonderful opportunities for entertainment..

Marine Corp, supports Scholarships.

It's that time of year again, to support the qualified graduating seniors with a fund raiser for when they go to College. This is a one time special presentation by and at the Golden Chain Theater. So come join the fun, we are almost sold out, and we like a full house.  These actors, dancers, and staff have been working for weeks on this one time special, so support your community and enjoy  with neighbors and friends.  For additional info Sierra News Online, or give a call to Jim Winney, number on the poster.  This Friday, September 11th.

Golden Chain Theater- Odd Couple

As most of you know we live in the rolling hills, on the way to Yosemite National Park. Neither Oakhurst or Coarsegold are much to look at when driving thru, but we have some hidden treasures.

The Golden Chain Theater being one of them.. It is located just above Oakhurst.  Guess I should have looked up some details to give you history about the theater, but I didn't.  The Theater has been known for it's Melodramas, Can Can dancing and generally fun entertainment,  pop corn, hot dogs, sodas, and drinks etc.
They are changing their venue a bit now, offering some more serious plays, and musicals. They are also offering Season Tickets. Ralph and I went with my P.E.O. Chapter, to the last Sunday afternoon, of the Odd Couple, the Female Version, By Neil Simon. It was very funny and enjoyed the afternoon, in the cool theater.

Our Chapter is also planning to see Fiddler on the Roof in November 7.

Their Web site is http:www.goldenchaintheatre.org , they are also on Facebook or the phone # 559-683-7112

EBHQ Opportunity Quilts March 2016

It seems like just a few days ago, I was planning on what to bring to camp. And now I am home unpacking the unfinished projects, needles, pins, etc.  But I still have Point B and my quilt friends in my mind. We are  sending emails back and forth and checking in on Facebook.  Along with the silly photos that were taken.
No, the quilts you are seeing are not any of mine, the two above are close ups of the East Bay Heritage Quilters Quilt Opportunity Quilts. They have  Two amazing quilts.

Voices in Cloth is 2016, they are starting early to sell tickets for these quilts, and I have purchased mine.
I wanted to let you know you can contact at EBHQVoicesInCloth@gmail.com, plan to attend, there will be 400 quilts and I hear that you will be overwhelmed with the quilts, venders etc. and the location is amazing.

What a year this has been, Onward. Postmarkd'art, Fabric Postcards.

A Story- Postmarkd'art

I started making Fabric Postcards in about 2006, it has been a wonderful time of meeting the most amazing ladies.  The postcards have traveled all around the world.  My e friend Franki Kohler wrote a book, Fun Fast & Easy, Fabric Postcards, about how to make fabric postcards and at that time and since, more articles have been written. Don't want to forget Bonnie Sobel and Louii-Philippe O'Donnell with their book Positively Postcards, through That Patchwork Place.
Judi Warren wrote a book also, but way before the wild fun, Fabric Postcards, 1993, with the American Quilters Society.  All the books are amazing and very different. I think the email and internet was a big boost to the activities.  Many of my e-friends are in Aussie Land, New Z, England, and Europe. Some turn out to be almost next door in the U.S.A.   I have 13 white binders full of the amazing cards. Have even had some hanging in art exhibitions, quilt shows and others have been sold or commissioned.

Fabric Postcards have been a great project for our YoYo group, some are silly, others are really works of art. These cards have brought a smile to sad faces, laughter at difficult times, and admiration for the beauty they contain.
This year I am going to pass on making fabric postcards. I do it with a heavy heart and hope that I can continue keeping in touch with many of these wonderful ladies.
