Ruffled Scarves

Ruffled scarves are such fun to knit and I enjoy the diversion from quilting. This is my evening entertainment, and keeps me from dipping into the ice cream.   The variety of colors make each one unique.
I had so many complements that I thought I would put them in the Mind Book Store in Oakhurst.
They will be available for purchase after Thurs. of this week...

Mind Store is open Wed & Thurs around noon, and Sunday from 11- noon. If one of the scarves  interests you and you can not get to the book store, be sure to contact me on my email.

Soft, cuddly, light, airy and warm.

Roger Rocka's Dinner Theater

We have been saying for a long time that we would get Season Tickets to Roger Rocka's Dinner Theater.  Our friends Peggy and Fred attend the matinee, which includes a beautiful, delicious buffet.

Last year we bought season tickets to attend with them.. We used to have tickets to the Laguna Theater in Laguna Beach, and when we moved to the mountains we sort of kept thinking,  One day we will, but didn't.

We are delighted to have finally made the decision, and the first show was delightful.
"Monty Python's Spamalot, a musical lovingly taken from the motion picture, Monty Python and the Holy Grail".

The 4 of us laughed till the tears ran down. I was not a Monty Python fan so was not sure what we were going to see..

At some point in our lives we all say, " Tomorrow we will..... and don't." Well, I feel we are lucky to have finally purchased season tickets to Roger Rocka's.

Remember sometimes you miss an opportunity to just have fun.

Don't wait, go have fun...

Timberline Gallery- "Winter Season"

I was sitting Timberline Gallery this last week. It was very cold and gray out side, and my hope was that it did not snow till I got home.  Which it did not, thankfully.

Our theme the last several months has been "Winter Joy". Very appropriate, it is Winter.

March will be the opening to our next themed show " Spring Flowers"

My quilt "Winter Season"is part of the winter theme, and looks wonderful with the 2 Blue Vases created by David Cares.

I had a series of 4 Seasons, 2 have sold and I have Summer and Winter left.

I enjoy working on themes and series, one thought leads to another.  Or if I feel something needs a bit of a change, I can do that on the next piece.  Maybe another color combination, a shape or an idea will come to mind.

Do you like to work in Series?

Winter Wonderland

It is amazing what a few hours can do to the weather.  SNOW.
This is what we woke up to this morning.

The sun is trying to come through and everything is dripping. The trees are shedding their beautiful white coats.

If you look carefully, you can see our llamas walking around looking at all the white.
Areas under the trees are with out snow. It fell quietly and with out any wind.
It was beautiful to watch last night,
and  oh, so cold right now.

This is unusual for our area by the river, the snow usually stops about 2 miles from our house.

Quiet days

Quiet Days, We all need quiet days, days of rest, relaxation, meditation and sometimes silence.

As some of you know I love taking photos of chairs and really have a good series of photographs.

Empty chairs are calling for someone to just sit and enjoy the surroundings.  This photo was taken at the last retreat I attended.. Sadly, I could not enjoy a moment in those chairs, because due to my ankle I could not walk there.

But as I look at this photo I can once again enjoy the peace and quiet that it symbolizes. That moment of joy, contemplation. No matter where you are, you can enjoy a moment of rest, a moment with self,
that quiet moment.

You don't need a view, you can close your eyes, and visualize where ever you would like to be.  The ocean, with the waves, and a cool breeze, or a tropical beach somewhere with a warm breeze...

Where ever, make it your time.

Camp Store

This year in the camp store, I brought Aurifil threads, photo gift cards, hand dyed socks, silk and cotton scarves and ice dyed panels and a few custom T. shirts.

The Ice dyed panels were swept up quickly, as many of the other items. It feels good to be able to share a love of creating.

Shirley Greenhoe makes these wonderful felted pin cushions. I have one right next to my sewing machine. Shirley is also a Master Long Arm Quilter.

Bell Hill Goat Milk Soap and Lotions are amazing. Janet is an fantastic quilter and goat lady.
Her goats are in the process of having babies right now, that is planning. Have them after she gets back from a restful Camp.  You can email Janet at jlocey@hughes.net, or check out her web site.
I love her soaps and lotions and always look forward to stocking up at camp, although you can order by mail.

Tracey Brookshier has an exciting collection of Quilt Patterns.. I am sure you have seen them at your local quilt store and at all the big quilt shows.  Watch for them, better still buy them.

Quilte Retreat-1 week

It was a new location for our 1 week Quilt Retreat and we were all (50)excited to say the least.
I have been attending with this group since 1998, and many have been attending for over 30 years.
Change is always a bit unsettling, but it was wonderful.. Not near the ocean, but in rolling hills a big change!  Because of my ankle this posed a bit of a challenge, it all worked out fine, thanks to many helpers and a few others in a similar position. The hills were a bit of a challenge for some.

I can't show the 2 pieces I was working on because they are part of an exhibition, but I did grab a "UFO" box and put these blocks together, also knitted a scarf, and finished the details on the two pieces that are now ready to ship.

I also checked out the contents of another UFO box, and found I really did not want to work on it. Checked with one of the ladies at the retreat to see if she would like it, and thankfully, she immediately had ideas on how to use it.. It was from the "Cotton Theory" book.. I have the book if any one wants it.. just let me know.

One day we took a break to Petaluma and stopped in at the Quilted Angel.  A lovely shop.  Had no intentions of buying any fabric, but then some Pinks grabbed me, and will let you know later what I might make of them..

Inside the Quilted Angel.. Full of goodies.

I came home with a cold that settled in my chest, and has now risen to my head. So I apologize for not being on top of things. With a cloudy head, and a due list, I have been trying to get it all done.

Will chat more about camp and show a few more photos. Hope your day is going well, and look out for that flu/cold... Not fun!

Color Catcher Ideas?

Christmas and New Years are now over. We have closed the gate on that holiday, and we are looking toward a positive 2013 future. Mostly with the T.V. off.

Everyone is organizing,  well maybe not everyone, that is sort of a broad statement. But in reading the blogs, they are hopping right on the New Years Band wagon.  And so it should be a good positive attitude,,, We can all be excited about a "clean" slate and progress.

I have been dyeing some fabrics, and  several bloggers are sharing some new ideas. One being, throwing a Shout Color Catcher into the washes with fabric.  This has an interesting texture and I am sure I will find lots of ideas on what to do with them..

I think these colors are exciting.. could I use them as a thin felt?  They don't frey and they have been through the washer.. would be great on wall hangings.

Do you have any ideas what to do with Color Catchers that you would like to share?
P.S.,,, just got back from a week at Quilt Camp.. Will catch up soon..
