So excited, my little Spirit gourd figure necklace , "Heart and Hands", is on
page 88 of this fantastic book.

I feel so privileged to  be included.

Displayed on the 431 pages are amazing beaded pieces of art
jewelry. This book is inspirational, colorful, and creative. It is joyful, and totally
intriguing. Every page elicits, ohs and ahs! This is truly the art of imagination wrapped in
beaded jewelry.
Beads, pearls, watch parts, and even sewing snaps are woven into intricate designs. Had a giggle on page 307, "Bottle Cap" Bling by Amy Katz.  I love Sprite also. You have to get the book to see what I am laughing about. There are too many fantastic pieces
to mention, 500, thus the name of the book!

What kind of Flower?

Does any one know what type of flower this is?? It is growing in the Orange Co. area,
of Southern Ca.  Wonder if it would make it through our cold winter up north?

It has large long leaves and is so delicate looking, I really wanted to take one of the
plants home..  but need to know what it is first, and if it would make it inside during the winter..

Prayer Flags, Happiness, Yoyo's

Several blogs ago, I showed photos of the Yoyo's making Prayer Flags.

We had a delightful lunch at Polly's and hung her flags on the porch.
They flutter in the breeze and are a joy to see.

I have mine on our outside porch ,,  have a few more to add, before I put a photo up.
This is such a creative way to share friendships.  It is on going and brings constant happiness, and fond memories.

It is also nice to hear of it being shared with so many people that are out side of the craft and art world.

One of our members made some for a family member that is ill. She sent out instructions to many in the family with suggestions on how to decorate each piece of fabric with their own thoughts and wishes.  Now they hang in his hospital room.  A daily reminder that his family loves and cares.

Just a little time, and a small piece of fabric can mean to much.

Freedom, Friendship, Blessings

Today I am struggling, not with my quilting but with my thoughts.  Do I write a blog about the uplifting 4th of July.. Do I say I went to a Tea Party Celebration of the 4th of July, Our National Independence Day?  Will I lose friends over saying that there were some remarkable speakers in attendance..

Yes, there were a variety of people from our community in the mountains and the Valley, some just brought their kids for the water slide... It was hot and they had fun.. But many came to hear the speakers talk about our beautiful country and celebrate together,  because we can. They were not all political, but spoke about remembrance of where we All came from, of the heroes that showed us the way. And the heroes that are loosing their lives to keep us Free.

We gave Thanks and we continue to give Thanks to these brave families.

My fear is that with the coming elections, people will lose life long friendships because of a difference in our thinking regarding the Presidential Election. We can't let this happen.

One of the speakers is a man that I had not heard of before.  I don't live in a shell, but for some reason I had not heard him speak.. Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson.

He has a radio show and has appeared on T.V.  His talk was mostly on rebuilding the Family and our Country. Aren't we a family?

He has written several books,, all were sold by the time we got to the booth, but can be ordered.
This is not a commercial but a suggestion to listen to all sides, to get an understanding and to share with out anger.
I looked up the word Friendship in the Wikipedia:

Friendship is a relationship between two people who may or may not be family members.
Friendship is:

The tendency to desire what is best for the other
Sympathy and empathy
Honesty, even in situations where it may be difficult for others to speak the truth.
Mutual understanding and compassion; ability to go to each other for emotional support
Enjoyment of each others company
Trust in one another
Positive reciprocity — equal give-and-take between the two parties
The ability to be oneself, express one's feelings and make mistakes without fear of judgment.
I am sure you can add to this list.

These are my thoughts for the day.. off to the studio,, may you enjoy lots of sunshine, and hug a friend.

Little Red Hen- frustration-help

Some days I feel like the little Red Hen,, I really can't remember the story, but I think she ran around trying to get things done.

This charming little hen was at a picnic we went to awhile back, some days I think it would be exciting to have chickens.  All colors and sizes. They are such fun to watch... Although with our cats not sure how that would work.

I got a lovely response under comments to my blog on fabric Dyeing.. I want to contact her.

Sounds easy enough.. I clicked on her name/blog name, email came up, clicked on that and nothing happened..Ok, now how do I respond, how  I can I reach her? I wrote her back under my comments, but will she look there?  I hope so.

When ever any one responds to one of my blogs, I am delighted,  I have an opportunity to meet someone that has taken the time to write me..
If any one can tell me how to do this, I would be so grateful.

In reviewing this blog, I realize that all I have to do is right click and lots of choices come up.
It is the simple things in life that give one joy...

PS... yes, we did get together, and this delightful lady is coming up for a fabric dyeing class in Sept.

I will put you on the list also, if you would like to have a fun day, dyeing fabric.  More as September and the cooler weather arrive.

Fainting Goats

We had a strange message left on our phone.

A neighbor that we had not met, was driving past our home and saw some crazy skunk, spinning in circles.  He thought perhaps it had eaten the head of the rattle snake that was dead a little further down the road and that is had bitten the skunk..

He did not know if it was dangerous, or was rabid..
He did't leave a phone number, so we could not call him back.. We went out side with a flash light and gun, just in case but could not find anything. In the country we don't have street lights and it is very dark!

We drove down the road and our neighbors were home, we had a lovely chat and got a better explanation of the Skunk. Thankfully, we did not find it and our llamas are all fine.

They have some Fainting Goats,  Burro's and a variety of chickens, ducks etc.
It had been awhile since we have been down the road..and we are delighted to see this fun menagerie.

Living in the country does have it's challenges.. we also heard that someone had gone on private property up the road, shot out the windows in a trailer that was used when the cows are in the field. Also shot one cow in the foot and killed a pregnant cow..

Country life is not all veggies, and happy animals. It can be a challenge.

"Reflective Water"

"Reflective Water" will go into Timberline Gallery's Theme Show for the next two months. It is hand painted fabric mounted on a 12in. X 12 in. painted canvas.

I used hand and machine quilting, beads and fabric/fiber for the foam. " Reflective Water" expresses the meditative atmosphere of looking into a river at sunset.

This exhibit " River, Streams, and Lakes" is showing from July 10th. through  September.  All Art is for Sale, and you can check out Timberline Art Gallery's web site for more information. If you would like to meet one of our special artists be sure and check out the schedule on the Timberline site.

Happy 4th of July

Today is the 4th. of July

My parents were born in the Netherlands, my mother immigrated to the U.S.A., in her teens.
My father was a Col. in the Dutch Air Force and assisted training pilots in the U.S.A. and all over the world. They had many stories to tell growing up in Holland during wars. They were the most patriotic people I have ever met. When ever we were in a place of tribute, as, at a parade and our American flag was flying, tears of blessing came to their eyes. They understood the meaning of Freedom.

When you are growing up, one does not hear all the stories, especially if your parents are older.
Most people of that time did not share. But from reading history, people that were raised from the 1900 were amazing strong people. They lived through many wars on many continents.

I am grateful for all the men and women that fight for our right to fly our American Flag.
May you also have that gift.
The gift of Freedom.

Beauty Surrounding Us

I wrote this blog last week, and decided to change some words and suddenly the whole blog was white. Nothing written, no photos, just a blank page.  Am I suppose to write something different?
What did I hit on the key board? Is there something I missed?

Sunday was a totally spectacular day for California weather.  High 70's with a cool breeze.

We were invited to participate in a barbeque, lots of laughing, people, and fantastic food.

We left the mountains and traveled the back road through Raymond to Chowchilla.
Old barns dot the road and cows munching in the pastures.

This is why California is known as the Golden State, miles of golden fields.

When I look out our air conditioned car window, I think of the people that settled this country in the covered wagons. What did they think as the walked each step into the unknown? No roads, no signs, no water. What amazing strength those people had.

Are there days where we step into the unknown, are we that brave?

This is an amazing country, where we have choice, and opportunity.

What is your path?

Saying Yes to the universe opens the gate to receiving what your soul really wants.
